The lines become somewhat too thin near the top for my tastes, but MAN, the line variation is awesome. The nose brings me great joy; I love it when lines look like that when they turn a corner....
Well, since noone posted... *cries*... I'll just bump and update the topic. http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1951/project39kx.png[/IMG]
Started up on the coloring, still need to finish shading though, but it shouldn't take long.
Note that the left eye should either be changed in angle, or the head should be differently shaped. The neck seems not right to me either, and I can't spot any sparklings in the eyes.
Yet, I kind of like the drawings, just the first one a lot better.
Okay, a few suggestions from me ... try not to use both pressure and non-pressure pens, as it shifts priority ... in your first picture, I looked first at the nose, and whatever you do if you're not a caricaturist, you won't lead anyones attention to a nose ^_^
Also, you shouldn't use different pen strengths for important pieces, like the hair. It must be strong lines, or the coloration will 'eat up' the thin lines between. If you're up for an example, look at the hait lines in your girl's hair and in the hair close-up of Ayame posted in my thread:
Even though I used a darker color than you, they don't appear vanishing. Of course that's also because of the actual shading, what you did is just a color overlay ...
Well, I really envy you of the drawing skills ... I could never do something like this without a reference ... (the few drawing errors are excuseable) ... :D
The first one is obviously better, and the second is messed up. Thanks for the tips on the pen strengths, I'll try some of it out. I'm a first-time pen user.
Yea the first one is good. I cant draw exclusively with the pen tool, all my characters I draw by hand, scan, then use the pen tool. SO you have some skill with that tool.
He has a point with the hair. The lines there should be uniform, after shading and coloring is applied the lies do appear to be, as he put it, "eaten up", thought I believe the lines he used on ayame are a little thick, but thats my personal style.
