A character I recently drew

Hi, I been drawing an awful lot lately. I recent drew this picture of my character Clovis from one of RPG Maker VX Ace games.

Please be honest does it look bad? The reason why I am asking is because I posted it on deviant art and no one is commenting on it or adding it to their favorites. I feel like no one likes it. Please tell me does he look bad? I won't get mad if any one says yes. I need to know where am I at so I can improve if it does look bad. By the way it still has my deviant art name on it.

Edit: I redrew the picture here.

Not sure how much better it is. I redesigned the armor and drawing armor is not my specialty.

Oh yeah he looks bad, but that's because I despise the art style.

This is not a constructive post. Its one thing to explain why something doesn't look good, but you are being straight up rude.

Then you should've stated only people who like anime art styles can answer... but then that's pretty much alienating yourself since obviously people who like the anime art style will say it's good... it's like drawing a dog but only asking people who like dogs if it looks good, why can't you ask people who like cats? They can still offer advice and critique on how to improve, for example, I could still offer critique such as the lines being messy and horrible, the eyes being in the wrong position, the entire anatomy is just plain wrong, and so is the "shading", not to mention the shoulderpads appear to be completely different sizes and aren't symmetrical. These, by the way, are legitimate complaints that I'm making as to why I don't like it, not necessarily just because it's an anime styled character.

... Maybe that's why no one on deviantART has liked or commented on it?

I'm not mad or anything but I think you're over doing it. I don't care what you think and I do need to improve, but to be honest you obviously never even looked at the picture. It is suppose to be that way because I of the pose he is in. If you're not even going to bother to look at it then don't reply. I don't care if any one says it's good or bad but I think the anatomy is fine. It's the pose I put him in. When you draw you don't want to give some one a stiff or boring pose. So please do not reply again I know you didn't even look at the picture close enough. I don't even know if you looked at it.

See, you're getting a negative comment with completely valid points and just throwing it away, you're clearly just hunting for praise here... and of course I looked at the picture, how else would I know which corrections to suggest? -.-"

I told you not to reply. I am not hunting you down for praise. Unless you can redraw the picture and point out what I did wrong don't reply. The fact that you think I a want praise is getting on my nerves. Please stop.

His head is kinda wonky. It looks like he's turned a little but you didn't draw the side of his jaw or shift the eyes and nose in space.
After that I'd say he's more female then male: Pencil thin eye brows. narrow nose. long eye lashes. small neck. and hourglass figure.
I'd mention the jaw and chin but there are styles like Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha) that keep this ambiguous. But IMO, it causes same-face syndrome.
It's hard to guess his age. He looks kinda boyish, since kids have bigger head to body proportions and are usually drawn with big eyes. I mean, Josei-style uses large eyes on adult characters, but they're usually aware of the other developed features like flatter (or longer) chin and square jaws, wider shoulders.
It's important to be able to distinguish men, women, and children. I can tell when I look at your other work, but this character is particularly androgynous. Which is good if that's what you were going for.

I could give critiques if that's what you're after, but it doesn't look like you are, so all I can say is that it looks like a perfectly usable game asset and I look to seeing it in a game at some point. Moderate luck with your game, I hope it turns out satisfactory.

Joking aside it's alright. Use it. Make a great game.

... Hunting me down? When the fuck did I say that? You really are bloody retarded, you know that, right?

Guys, calm down and please remember this is someone's work you're talking about. There's criticism and there's being a dick, and our number 1 rule is not to be a dick. On top of that comments and criticism are to be expected when posting artwork (otherwise there's no reason to post it), it doesn't have to be acted upon and it doesn't need to be accepted.

If you're resorting to the post above, you've gone too far and need to cool off. And yes I saw the post in PWOYM.

I think your work resonates with Yukiru Sugisaki. Something to do with the way you draw eyes and your color choices I guess. Although it's rare to see her draw characters that aren't teenagers. (Guess that's true for a lot of people). I'm only bring it up because your Mystic Knight characters are for the most part in their 20s. But I think you're drawing adult characters with teen features. They need longer faces. Slightly smaller eyes. And the guys in general have some kind of developed chin. I wasn't going to being up the chin since it varies from artist to artist. But then I started thinking how most artists aren't practiced in drawing adult characters anyways.

I expect people will intuitively draw teen features because that's like, 99% of what anime is. Young characters. And How to draw anime books will start off with a basic circle and V face. Which works perfectly for most cases.

There's just a difference in design between 15-17 year olds and a late 20-30 something "old man". That's what I'd trying to get at.

His ear is still too far out. The corner of the jaw lines up under the ear and side of neck in a front-view position. If his head turns in space the ear and jaw won't be on the side anymore but more in front.
