8-directional caterpillar

Hey, everybody.
I'm just wondering, although i'm sure it's been questioned and answered, how can I use an 8-directional-sprite script with a caterpillar script, and have it still look good?

Much like Earthbound, or Mother 3.
It would be much appreciated.
If you have links or raw scripts, anything would help.
Thank you!

Are you using RPG Maker XP or RPG Maker VX?
What custom scripts are you using?
Does the custom script for 8-direction sprites make events which you move with the lower/upper left/right move commands look alright?

Ah, sorry.

I'm using Rpg Maker XP.

I'm using DerVVulfman's Eight Directional / Multiple Frame Movement Script v2.4.

I'm always open to other script suggestions.

I've been told to look into Pixelmovement scripts...?

The reason you have been told that is most likely because f0tz!baerchen's Pixelmovement script has support for both 8-directional moving and a caterpillar. I don't know whether DerVVulfman's Eight Directional script works with it or not.

Alternatively you could try my Caterpillar script which works with the typical way of creating 8-directional movement. I use the normal way of moving events around for the caterpillar which is why it might work with DerVVulfman although I am not sure.

I hope this enough information for you to get on with your script.

Thank you very much!
I'm on a school computer as of right now, however,
I'll try the script when I get to my computer.

If I get the walking system working, I ought to post a project
topic in the Game Project section.

Your help is very much appreciated.

:)

Ah, maybe i'm just terrible at scripting, but the script isn't working out right.
I went to settings and applied caterpillar with no overlap, and tried to get 8-directional angled sprites working, but the frame size is too small and nothing seems to work out right.

It's rather painful. Maybe this isn't the best place to complain about this in the forums.

Would someone be willing to help me out, by modifying the f0tz script, to meet the style that i'm hoping to get out of it?

If you just search "Earthbound playthrough", or something like that, I'm sure you could find an example of the 8-directional sprited, caterpillar walking.

NOTE: This script will not be used for an Earthbound-graphic or Earthbound-concept-based game.
The concept, sprites, and storyline will be entirely my own.

ALSO NOTE: I'm NOT a scripter in any way. I'm basically a spriter and a mapper, and I'm decent with the other aspects of RPGMaker systems.

If you need a favor in return for your help, i'll gladly do some spritework for your project, if it's needed.

My e-mail adress is in my profile, if you have any files to send.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,
