8-bit stuff

So I just got started with making music (two days ago to be precise), and decided to go 8-bit for starters, not exactly sure why. Here's my first result:

The long whole note at the beginning was a little annoying and overbearing the bass. The melody is akward sounding. I like the middle, nice bass line melody. Try to make it build more; alot of nes style tunes have layers of melodies on top of each other to compensate for loss of instrument differentiation.

But nice for the first time! What did you make this with?

Also, im removing the title [other] from your thread. You dont have to mark anything if its not for an RPG.

I dropped the volume on the whole at the start. I noticed something was wrong with the melody too, but I'm not sure what to do about it =\
