Background Story

A world englufed by war and destruction for mileniums, the 2 kingdoms have finally made a cease fire. But at what cost? Most towns left in ruins, some still recovering from the power of war. All in the name of glory and honor. Which all began as in act of greed. When will people finally see that war isn't the way?


Story

Zack, a young man with a grieving past, was just visiting his home town, a friend to be more precise. He soon then thrown into an event that would change his life forever. It had nothing to do with him, he could've just avoided it, but didn't. He just didn't want to see someone important in his life hurt again.


Some of the Main Characters (there are several playable characters

Zack:
A young man who has suffered in his past. Lost a family, lost a lover. After facing some of the hardships of life, he left his home town, trying to run away from his past. Though not a positive personality, he's loyal. He would do anything to protect his friends.

Craig:
A smart adolescent that has the will of adventuring. He loves being sarastic at times. Only cheery when with his Best Friend, Zack.


Rose:
A really bright woman. Loves life at it's fulest, always perky. She has always felt different then everyone else. Though, always has felt something abnormal in her.

Katie:
Loyal to the her commanding officer, and has always excuted the orders given to her without question. A very skilled fighter.


Features:
20 hours worth of story gameplay.
5 hours worth of sidequests.
A huge overworld.
Hidden Dungeons, Weapons, Items and Armor scattered in the world.
Customizable weapons
Multiple Playable Characters, meaning several Point of Views.
A Deep and shadowing storyline

Demo

Now, while the demo has passed it's beta form, it's still not totally complete. Some things in it will be revised and changed. This is still in it's alpha form. And I haven't added all the things I wanted.
If you do run into an error, please tell me.
The demo reaches from 35min to 1hour of gameplay in average, depending on your skills.

Now this game is supposed to be designed for a forum. Based of members and the such. So I had to change the names of the characters. You MIGHT see some name mistakes.

Also, I can take ANY critisisim. Trust me on that. Don't be afraid to say what's on your mind, what you think of the demo.
 
Hm... I am the first to reply?

Well... Then here I go...

First things first: Your game seems to have some potential so far. But there are some things, that you have to change in order to make this really good. That said lets take a look at what I mean.

Your opening sequence was (as almost everything else in this demo) pretty basic. Note that when i say basic, I don't mean bad. I actually like that basic stuff. But here it was that I found the first problem, that was permananet through the whole demo: The mapping.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen mapping far worse than yours, but stairs that have no wall around them? Or a cliff that has 19 same tiles in a line? (As a rule: When doing nature maps, never use 3 same tiles next to each other (except for ground tiles)). Also trees usally don't place themselves in a rectangular shape.

Now on to the gameplay. One thing that really bothered me, was that when I entered a building I suddenly was facin another direction. That is kind of a turn off for many people.
The battle system though is really enjoyable. Being turnbased it gives you time to think, but at the same time includes strategy with the individual turn speeds. Good job here.

The story so far, did not hold many suprises... But it did make sense though which is a good thing.
Only the end confused me. And for others sake here goes a....
Why didn't they kill Zack? He does not seem to have the powers they want and the savest way of keeping him and Craig away from each other would be to kill him? On another note, why should they be kept away from each other? When Zack is weak, then they don't make a better team when together do they?

So. Those are my impressions on the demo. i am looking forward to this games developement.

From what's given, it seems that the story might need some work - But since it largely depends on execution, it's hard to say without actually seeing it in action, I suppose. The maps are on the bare side, and some mapping tutorial could definitely give ya a hand. This seems like it's got potential, but could still use some lifting. c: Keep it up!

P.S. I remember that windowskin! I used to use it back then too, heheh.

@ Dalton: Well yeah, I kinda knew the mapping wasn't that good. Apparently it's my biggest problem so far. I'll try my best to improve it, but I should be able to do it with you guys helping.

I did get the a complaint about the going into next area problem. It mostly annoys them when they're in a rush.

As to the spoilers;
The reason why they didn't kill Zack, is like Fang indirectly said, is that he has some hidden undevelopped strength. Some kind of power that surpasses Craig's power. Why the should be kept away from each other? Because they make too much of a good team. Especially if they have their powers.
Hope that kinda clears some stuff <_< I know I need to improve my story lol.
