Hello guys! just a random game dev passing by

I've known about this site for a while but never made an account, usually just enjoying the artwork (I'm not an artist myself sadly).

I'm currently working on a really big personal project that will probably take a while, it's a browser game, part of it includes a 2D top-down RPG map, so art resources here
could be really helpful, but the main difficulty is dealing with broken links, missing images, and finding proper licensing info for commercial projects.

I made an account now because I'm trying to track down some rather old resources and people, but again broken down links, and things lost in time
made it seem close to impossible so I was hoping to ask around for some help or maybe PM some people, but I can't find a PM button, is it limited for new users?

I'm mainly looking for Full-Kaiser and Half-Kaiser resources, they look so amazing and my game is working with really big sizes so those are really ones I'm looking forward to using ^^
I can't find the original Full-Kaizer resources despite searching google for a while, it's all broken links and images.
It also seems like the creator and most contributors are no longer active and don't have working links that could be used to contact them,
I did see the thread here for Half-Kaizer but it's missing license info, so I don't know if I can use them for anything commercial.

If anyone has any info about the license of these and can link/upload to real-size PNGs I would be so thankful!

Heya, welcome

Yeah as we're about 16 years old at this point it's unfortunate so much has been lost. Hell, 324,000 posts from RMXP.net and 100,000 posts from RMXP.org were just lost in their entirity...

Wayback Machine may be some help but unfortunately this is just a result of the Internet being such a fragile thing. Some RM sites have been wiped from the net completely - Gaming Ground Zero even went as far as to block themselves from Wayback Machine so it's as if they never existed in the first place!

I haven't seen the creators of the Half Kaizers in a long, long time and I doubt they'll ever read any messages unfortunately. Dunno where Tana resides nowadays.

Which of the templates are from the original creator Kaiser? all the ones here? :

because if I understand correctly, some were made by other people on the half-kaiser project, I mean to legally allow people to use them
we need the creator to give some agreement in writing, it's problematic to just assume or use hearsay that the artist agreed, so it's a shame
there doesn't seem to be one (at least anything that was not lost)

[edit] I found this pack you linked Nathaniel3W to: http://www.mediafire.com/file/wdgh7zc0h9bnhd1/HK_collection.rar/file
Thanks! this is a great pack, and some of the only usable files I found online!
Sadly I can't track down each artist there, so I probably can't use most of the stuff there.. You have some really great stuff you
made yourself there, you even made an anthro version, I love it! do you allow your stuff to be used commercially?

also, I can make a quick half-kaiser character generator with these files and post it here if you don't mind, might be useful for people.

This is so, so sad, does any of you still have some resources saved on disk somewhere? I mean beyond templates, like clothes , hair, equipment etc?
I'd even really like to find a copy of the original full-kaiser sized templates, didn't find any of those that is not badly downscaled JPG.

I tried way-back-machine on RMXP.net, but the "User-Submitted Resources" forum seems to require a login, so none of it seem to have been saved, though interestingly showkaiser seem to be listed as one of the mods on this forum on 2005. On RMXP.org seems like most images were not archived so the resources forum wasn't much help..
http://www.pixelcocktail.com/HKCP looks full with resources on way-back-machine! Here, but only thumbnail images were saved, none of the actual resources can be downloaded sadly :(
Even on this forum most resources were uploaded to photobucket and tinypic, both of which decided to nuke their archives, so those are lost too...
I really hope at least someone out there have stuff saved to a harddrive ^^U

I heard Kaiser changed their name to sal-o-mac, is that true? because I saw they reappeared here some time ago, I found their deviantart here: https://www.deviantart.com/sal-o-mac/gallery/all
I'd like to ask for explicit license (CC-0 / CC-BY / etc), if they could post it publicly that would help anyone in the future who'd like to use them.

Anyway, this is getting way out of place for the introduction forum, I should probably open a new thread for this.

I came across Tana on Twitter at one point. She... I think she kind of reached her breaking point and I'm not sure what happened after that. I think she was in debt and had lost her job and her house and she was begging friends in the Pacific Northwest to let her live with them and I think she ended up in a tent in a friend's yard or something. Like she had really hitting rock bottom. I PMed her and offered her a job working on Himeko Sutori, but she didn't respond. I haven't checked in on her recently. I should do that.

https://twitter.com/alisatana -- November of last year she was in a bad spot. Looks like she's back to posting art again, so I guess she's OK.
https://alisatana.artstation.com/ -- I don't know if she's still updating this. It looks like she deleted her DeviantArt page.

Edit: I also just checked on ShowKaizer a.k.a. Sal-O-Mac's DeviantArt page. There was a link to sal-o-mac.com, but it's just a big Flash movie and I uninstalled/blocked Flash, so I can't see what's there. Coyotecraft is one of Sal-O-Mac's followers on DeviantArt. Funny seeing how interconnected this small group is.

Thanks for the links and extra info! I PMed Sal-O-Mac, I hope he will respond, from his profile it seems like he visited here a few months ago, I hope he will
come soon and see the message, on deviantart his last post is from 2011, so I guess it might be even less likely to contact him there.
I saw his flash site, it has a contact button that links to his email on gmail: "SaliymMcCullin(AT)Gmail.com", so I used it to send him an email asking for exact license
info for the templates and asking if he has any of the original files saved, I hope he responds!

I was thinking of making a half-kaiser generator, but it looks like there is already one in the linked zip file you posted, so there is no need ^^U
