eZine Submissions, Ads, and General Discussion

eZine Submissions, Ads, & General Discussion

What is this thread about?

  • The HBGames eZine is a periodic publication showcasing some of the best work of the HBGames and related communities. Here in the submissions thread, you can go ahead and post any suggestions or ideas you have for eZine features or articles. If you've made or want to help make an article for the eZine, the eZine Submissions Board is the place to be.

The eZine itself follows an 800x1000 pixel format, columned or not as best fits. Articles are featured as deemed appropriate, but if you have any preferences on formatting or location for something you've made, feel free to let us know.

Just a shout out and reminder, if anyone has ideas, submissions, suggestions, etc for the eZine, please let me know via preferably PM.

The next issue is due on or around February 1st if anybody has any submissions. Actually have a decent amount of content ready so anything you post might end up in the next issue.

I've been asked by a few people if I'd make the eZine more regular.

1. I'm worried that it'd get annoying, having frequent updates.
2. I'm worried that, as nobody else submits articles, it'd end up just being Amy's Blog the eZine.
3. I'm worried the length and quality of eZines might suffer as a result.

But I'd be more than happy to do it, if that's what everyone wanted. Even once-every-three-weeks might make sense.

In short though, while it's well read, if you want it more frequent:

- Submit articles or other content you think might be enjoyable.
- Post feedback and comments! Feedback is extremely valuable.

Well, there's the prospect of app and Facebook-based games stealing, or copying, the work of artists for their games. Like how it effects the artists, and possibly other indie developers by giving them negative stigma!

Ooh, what if we have a "Storytime with Jason" in every eZine and I just go batshit insane and write weird stories every month?! :thumb:

PS. Can you remember the Storytime sketch from Monty Python? Watched it last night (Was watching the best of Monty Python), so good.

... With a melon?!

Do it!

Also, I have had an idea, which is never a good thing, but still, I am going to work on something and post it soon. You've been warned. The eZine will stay monthly, but...

An idea.

If Advanced RPG Maker goes ahead (which it will, given the response on the official forums) then the HBGames eZine can relax a little bit and act as a more casual eZine for the site, of course maintaining it's professionalism and game related articles at the same time.

So I've decided that since I'm going to start writing articles for you for the eZine, either the HBGames one or the Advanced RPG Maker one... I want a sort of... Author Avatar, y'know like how in books there's a picture of the Author?

Well... five minutes on Flash got me this!

Isn't he beautiful?

(I'll definitely make some changes before he's final (Because the line work and stuff is VERY messy)... but the style will pretty much stay the same, over-excited creepy guy, lol... it'd also look a LOT better if I was drawing with a tablet, this is just mouse work, lol)

Edit: Here we go... this is final now, he really is a pretty boy!

So I've written my first article and sent it to you Amy... I've changed the name of the header, it's no longer Storytime with Jason, but it's similar lol... Babble Time with Jason, because y'know... just me babbling about random shit and whatever else.

With not much content to go by (but thank you to Jason for actually submitting something, the last submission we had was in 2009!) I'm afraid I've taken a few liberties with this issue. But you'll like it anyway, because if you didn't I'd ban you. There's still two months to go, anyway. Feel free to suggest things for the spotlight by the way.

Awesome Bro

Well like I've said before somewhere... I'll write more articles if you'd like lol, and Babble Time could easily go on for more than one page, lol... by the way what did you think of it?
